Join us for an enjoyable evening as we learn about and experience some of the finest wines France has to offer. Paired with cheeses specially selected, you will learn about the background of each varietal, its history, manufacturing process, and start the development of your knowledge of international wines.
Not just your average wine tasting, you will be joined by Richard Mackinnon, an ASI/4 Sommelier, who will guide you through this educational and truly delicious journey.
You will taste the following 6 wines, all of which will be available to you for purchase at discounted rates as part of this tour:
Wine Selections
1. Chateau Tour Le Pin, Bordeaux Blanc:
You will be greeted with wine. Family owned and operated since 1895, this company produces delicate examples of wines of the Bordeaux region. This Blanc, from the Dordogne Valley, is a pale, clear brilliant yellow-white. Aromas of summer pear, peach and apricot combine with floral notes, to provide a lively balance and long finish.
2. Paul Bouchard Chardonnay:
Grown and produced in the Bourgogne area of France, this wine derives its buttery aroma from malo-lactic fermentation. Oak barrels contribute notes of vanilla, smoke and hints of spice. Paired with Emmenthaler cheese.
3. Paul Bouchard Pinot Noir:
Known as the grape of Burgundy, pinot noir derived its name because their bunches are similar to that of a pine cone (pinot) in French. Intensely perfumed, this wine displays soft flavors and goes with a variety of foods. Paired with Camembert
4. Les Araminier Cotes du Rhone:
As its name states, this wine is from the southern Rhone region. Actually a blended wine, there may be as many as 22 grape varieties that winemakers can use to make this blend. Typically, Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre, and Cinsault are the featured varietals. Great with roasted foods and mushroom dishes, it’s paired with Gouda
5. Chateau Gonin Bordeaux:
A deep purple color displays aromas of dark fruit, violets, truffles and chocolate. Owned by the last remaining line of producers since 1510, these wines age in barrels for 12-16 months paired with Cambozola
6. Saint Siffrein Chateauneuf du Pape:
From the Rhone Valley, this family owned vineyard was established in 1880. Grown using biodynamic farming techniques, the wine is aged in old oak barrels for at least 12 months, and is one of the most versatile wines, pairing with virtually every type of food. Truly delicious, its paired with Herbed Goat cheese
