Former Miami Dolphin Louis Oliver Hosts Social Change Art Exhibition at African Heritage Cultural Arts Center

A select contingent of local artists from ArtServe in Fort Lauderdale will exhibit at “Le Art Noir–Diversity in Color” on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022.  The show takes place during Miami Art Week and Art Basel.

“ArtServe has long been known as a place for Art Basel scouts to discover the newest talent,” ArtServe Executive Director Jason Hughes said.  “Exhibiting at this prestigious, high-profile event also gives our best talent the chance to make a significant addition to their growing resumes.”

ArtServe artists exhibiting at Le Art Noir, Diversity in Color include:

Sara Schesser Bartra—a South Florida-based visual artist who also holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology and Microbiology.  She often incorporates science and the world of microbes into her artwork.

George Gadson—Fort Lauderdale-based artist whose works express different spiritual aspects and values of life. His many works for public spaces uncover their history and civic memories through creative design.

Kenny Ruiz/Magchop—sought out by celebrities for his pop-art collage graffiti style, he creates movie posters, book covers and memorabilia, among other artworks.

Pipe Yanguas—a Miami-based Colombian artist and photographer with global clients known for his “Dots and Lines World” style.  He is also in process of painting a mural on ArtServe’s façade.

Local artists Art Cartwright, Vanessa Conway and Guillermo Gambini also will exhibit.

Hosted by former Miami Dolphin Louis Oliver, Le Art Noir, Diversity in Color will showcase an artistic collection of mediums that includes traditional art, digital and NFTs, fashion and a celebration of music.

Le Art Noir, Diversity in Color takes place on Dec. 1 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. (ET) at the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center at 6161 N.W. 22nd Avenue in Miami.  Tickets, which are $100, are available here and include cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, live music by Jon Saxx and a runway fashion show by Isamar Gonzalez of Isamar Designs.

A highly sought-after annual fixture popular with celebrities, Le Art Noir, Diversity in Color showcases innovative works that capture the pulse of socially relevant and pop culture topics to shed light on poignant matters in a way that inspires change. Through visual journeys, artists display personal and emotional stories that challenge boundaries, raise awareness and encourage activism.

Sponsored in part by ArtServe and others, Le Art Noir, Diversity in Color will be held at the African Heritage Cultural Arts Center, known as the artistic home of alumnus Tarell Alvin McCraney, co-creator of the award-winning movie, Moonlight.  Regarded as a nucleus of arts learning, training and access for Miami-Dade County’s African-American community, The Center promotes and fosters the rich, diverse cultural perspective of people of African heritage through high-quality instruction for children and youth in dance, drama, instrumental music, vocal music, media and visual arts; the nurturing of in-house performing arts companies; a residency program for emerging artists; as well as exciting performances and visual arts exhibitions for the public.
