Boca Raton Historical Society Opens Nominations for the 30th Annual Walk of Recognition

Milestone 30th Anniversary Celebrates Three Decades of Honoring Boca Raton’s Most Distinguished Leaders

BOCA RATON, FL (August 14, 2026) – Nominations are now open for the 30th Annual Walk of Recognition, a milestone celebration marking three decades of honoring the individuals whose leadership and generosity have shaped Boca Raton. The Boca Raton Historical Society and The Schmidt Boca Raton History Museum invite the community to help select this year’s honorees, continuing a tradition that has honored the city’s most distinguished citizens for 30 years.

“When I started the Walk of Recognition in 1997, I saw a community full of people quietly doing extraordinary things — for their neighbors, for local schools, for people who needed help — and no one was stopping to say thank you,” said Marta Batmasian, founder of the Walk of Recognition. “I wanted Boca Raton to have a place where those contributions could be remembered, not just for a moment, but for good. Thirty years later, I’m prouder than ever of everyone we’ve been able to honor.”

“The Walk of Recognition has always been about honoring those who shape our city’s story,” said Olivia Hollaus, Executive Director of the Boca Raton Historical Society. “As we celebrate 30 years of this remarkable tradition, we’re deeply grateful to Marta Batmasian for the vision that started it all, and honored to continue recognizing the individuals whose dedication and impact have left such a meaningful mark on Boca Raton.”

Since its inception, the program has honored individuals across education, health care, civic service, arts & culture, business, and philanthropy, memorializing each honoree with an engraved granite star in Mizner Plaza at Royal Palm Place. Now marking three decades of tradition, the program continues to be generously supported by its founding sponsors, whose enduring commitment has helped sustain this tribute to community leadership for 30 years.

Honorees are memorialized with an enduring granite star in Mizner Plaza — a lasting public tribute meant to be seen and appreciated by the community for generations. Selection is reserved for those whose contributions have made a truly significant and lasting impact on Boca Raton, a distinction that has helped make the Walk of Recognition one of the city’s most meaningful and enduring honors for 30 years running.
