 <link>http://www.livingfla.com/todo/lf0220100319.html</link>
<description>Haitian-born, Miami-based contemporary artist Adler Guerrier will create a new site-specific exhibition that will explore the effects of geography, politics, and history on Hollywood, Florida, and nearby environs. Guerrier&apos;s multi-dimensional exhibition will employ a variety of media, including photography, drawings, sculpture, and video to express a &quot;psycho-geographic&quot; narrative of a distinctive cityscape that includes an urban center, quiet neighborhoods, and lively beachfront. Guerrier will create a multi-media exhibition that will provide a timely and perhaps even timeless document of a specific moment in our local history. The opening reception will be held on Friday, Feb. 26 from 6 to 9 p.m.

Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday from 12 to 4 p.m.

Opening Reception admission is free for Art and Culture Center members and $10 for non-members. General admission is free for members, $7 for adults, $4 for students, seniors and children ages 4-13, and free to children under 4 when accompanied by an adult. Gallery admission is free to all on the third Sunday of every month, when an exhibition is on display.

 <title>The World of Giant Insects</title>
 <link>http://www.livingfla.com/todo/lf0220100319.html</link>
<description>Keeping in line with its commitment to entertain as well as educate, Miami Metrozoo presents The World of Giant Insects from January 23 - August 1, 2010. This traveling exhibit, which will be located at the zoo’s Dr. Wilde’s World, will provide eye-opening insight into the anatomy and behavior of insects we encounter regularly. These animated robotic insects, enlarged 40 to 600 times their actual size, will afford visitors a new up-close perspective on these important creatures.

The exhibit will include a praying mantis (60 times its size), stick insect (120 times its size), beetles (40 times its size), caterpillar (30 times its size), and a locust (70 times its size). Interactive displays with mosquitoes, honeybee, and dragonfly enlarged 600, 200 and 80 times their size respectively will further thrill and engage adults and children alike. In addition, laboratory, “backyard jungle” components and signage will enable everyone to learn in more detail about these fascinating creatures.

The exhibit, produced by Kokoro Dinosaurs, has traveled extensively and entertained numerous crowds at museums, zoos and aquariums throughout the United States.

The World of Giant Insects exhibit will be open every day from 10 a.m. -5 p.m. and is included with zoo admission.

 <title>The World of Giant Insects</title>
 <link>http://www.livingfla.com/todo/lf0220100320.html</link>

 <title>Cats Fundraising Dinner Auction Gala</title>
 <link>http://www.livingfla.com/todo/lf0220100320.html</link>
<description>Cats Exclusive Adoption Center and Clinic
would be honored by your presence at the
Fundraising Dinner Auction Gala

To benefit the New Building for Cats Exclusive
Saturday, the twentieth of March
Cocktails at 7 O’clock
Dinner at 8 O’clock

Black Tie Optional

We are holding a fund raiser and dinner auction gala March 20th.; the goal we are striving for is to purchase our own building so we can take in more cats for adoption and expand our clinic to do dogs as well, we wish to provide low cost for all. Renting our facility voids us from some grants that would help our cause.
Since 1979 our no-kill adoption branch has taken in over five and a half thousand cats and has worked to find them the best homes possible, but at the facility itself we can only care for up to sixty cats at a time. We know the need is enormous, while I type this we have received calls from several different people desperate to place 8 different cats, and the calls continue to pour in all day. We want to help more; we simply do not have the capacity.
We have performed over 9000 surgeries in our 2.5 years, that is preventing thousands upon thousands of kittens being born unwanted and homeless. The dog population could certainly use our help, too, but our facilities cannot handle the space that they require.
The event is formal, black tie optional, and will be held at the South Florida Convention Center in the Rainbow Ball Room. 6101 NW 31 Street, Margate, FL 33063. Cocktails start at 7PM, and dinner is at 8PM. Our exciting auction event will be held after dinner; there will also be a silent auction throughout the evening.
Reserved seating is required and available at $150 per person or $200 per couple.
. Please contact Niuvi Liriano at 954-975-8349 ext. 305 If you would like to help out, but cannot make it out to the dinner, please send a donation to Cats Exclusive, Inc., and note that you would like the donation to go towards the new building.
As always, your donation is tax deductible. If you have something unusual or spectacular to contribute for the auction, please contact us 954-975-8349 ext. 305 or stop by our center. If the item does not get used in this event, we will use it in future fundraisers. Cats Exclusive, Inc. 6350 West Atlantic Blvd, Margate, FL 33063

 <title>The World of Giant Insects</title>
 <link>http://www.livingfla.com/todo/lf0220100321.html</link>

 <title>The World of Giant Insects</title>
 <link>http://www.livingfla.com/todo/lf0220100329.html</link>

 <title>The World of Giant Insects</title>
 <link>http://www.livingfla.com/todo/lf0220100331.html</link>

McCormick &amp; Schmick’s Opening at CityPlace,
Downtown West Palm Beach
Fresh daily seafood restaurant managed by South Florida natives

West Palm Beach, FL - A respected name in seafood restaurants is casting a line at CityPlace in West Palm Beach. Locals, tourists and visitors had their first taste of a wide array of different varieties of fresh seafood when McCormick &amp; Schmick’s Seafood Restaurant opened its doors at CityPlace on Monday, February 8, 2010. It is the fourth McCormick &amp; Schmick&apos;s in Florida.

“As one of the top visitor destinations in Palm Beach County, CityPlace provides a vibrant location for McCormick &amp; Schmick’s with its mix of dining, retail and entertainment options,” said Bill Freeman, chief executive officer of McCormick &amp; Schmick’s Seafood Restaurants, Inc. “We look forward to bringing our fresh seafood offerings to the area and becoming an integral part of the local community.”

The 7,000+ square foot CityPlace McCormick &amp; Schmick&apos;s is located at 651 Okeechobee Blvd. directly across from the Palm Beach Convention Center. It will have seating for more than 300, including an open-air casual lounge area, patio bar and covered outdoor dining area. The restaurant also has indoor and outdoor space for private dining functions from 10 to 80 guests.

McCormick &amp; Schmick&apos;s menu changes twice daily according to each day’s fresh seafood deliveries, in keeping with McCormick &amp; Schmick’s tradition of offering only the freshest seafood available in season. The menu’s “Fresh List” showcases an impressive number of seafood varieties in fresh that day. Examples of menu items at McCormick &amp; Schmick’s West Palm Beach include Florida Stone Crab Claws, Coriander Crusted Mahi Mahi, Grilled Black Grouper with Adobo and Lime Mojo and Cajun Seared Snapper. McCormick &amp; Schmick’s menu also features a wide array of fresh oysters. The restaurant’s wait staff is renowned for their encyclopedic seafood knowledge.

In addition to being a seafood leader in quality, variety, preparation and service, McCormick &amp; Schmick&apos;s menu features a generous amount of aged steaks, poultry, entrée salads and pastas, all focused on fresh ingredients.

The restaurant’s commitment to freshness continues in its full-service bar where all juices are fresh squeezed and cocktails are hand shaken in the tradition of classic mixology. The restaurant’s bar also features the famous McCormick &amp; Schmick&apos;s $1.95 bar food menu that has been recognized with awards and accolades in many cities across the country.

Executive Chef Alan Lamoureux, who has been a chef and culinary expert in South Florida for more than 20 years, will lead the McCormick &amp; Schmick’s culinary team in crafting and presenting the restaurant’s daily updated menu. Before joining McCormick &amp; Schmick’s, Lamoureux previously served as the co-founder, executive chef and culinary director at L&amp;N Seafood Restaurants and as regional executive chef at Charley’s Crab in West Palm Beach.

“McCormick &amp; Schmick’s offers Palm Beach a balance of professional service and affordable fare in a lively and comfortable setting, perfect for relaxing with friends or sealing a business deal,” says Chipp Lewis, general manager of McCormick &amp; Schmick’s at CityPlace. Lewis has worked with McCormick &amp; Schmick’s for a number of years, previously as general manager for McCormick &amp; Schmick’s Harborside at National Harbor in Maryland. As a native of Miami, Lewis is excited to be back in South Florida. “We look forward to building relationships with each of our guests, and ensuring that they have a great experience, whether they come for our happy hour or a family dinner.”

The McCormick &amp; Schmick’s CityPlace restaurant showcases a fresh design direction for McCormick &amp; Schmick’s. While based on traditional style, the CityPlace McCormick &amp; Schmick’s design incorporates many contemporary twists. Highlights of the design include two covered outdoor patios; one a bar lounge and one for dining. A feature wall inside the restaurant showcases etched glass panels and copper fish sculptures that are custom-designed for this location.
