:: Kayaking with Mosaic

Where: Oleta River State Recreation Area

Time: 9:30 AM

What: This area is one of the premier kayaking trails in South Florida. Paddle in your own single kayak or partner up with someone in a tandem (two person) kayak, if you prefer. Explore the scenic Oleta River and all the wildlife that abounds there. We will stop for a break and lunch when we reach the Blue Marlin Restaurant. There we can tie up the boats and enjoy their unique cuisine or you can bring your own picnic lunch to enjoy at their dockside tables. Expect about four hours of moderate paddling (including our lunch stop).
Where: Oleta River State Recreation Area, 3400 N.E. 163 St, N. Miami, 305-919-1846.
Directions: Take I-95 to SR 826 east, toward Miami Beach. Go several miles, continuing past Biscayne Blvd (US 1) for about a half mile, and turn right into the park. Meet next to the bike/kayak rental shack.
Bring: hat, sunscreen, bug spray, brown bag lunch or money to buy lunch at the Blue Marlin, water bottle, towel, change of clothes & money for snack/dinner afterward.
Reminder: Wear your Mosaic t-shirt to all Mosaic events. At one random event each month, participants wearing a Mosaic t-shirt will receive a $3 discount on the event
Cost: Single kayak-$28 for members and $33 non-members, Tandem kayak-$23 for members, $28 for non-members. You must request single or double kayaks in advance. RSVP required.
