The South Palm Beach/Fort Lauderdale Taste of the Nation Committee has a tasty message for food and wine lovers. Prepare to party! Share Our Strength, which is leading the nation-wide campaign to fight childhood hunger, will present the local organization's 16th annual Taste of the Nation on Wednesday, June 11, 2008 at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/ Broward Convention Center.

The acclaimed and popular fundraiser will showcase exciting casino gaming, a dynamic live auction, flavorful specialties created by chefs from Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade Counties, wine, champagne, spirits and a vibrant party atmosphere. The live auction, featuring wine and lifestyle lots, is the fundraiser's centerpiece.
Event General Admission tickets are $100.00. The VIP Chef Reception, offering a pre- event party with an opportunity to meet the chefs and savor hors d'oeuvres, champagne and martinis, is available at $150.00 per person, which includes general admission. A limited number of patrons may also reserve a $250 "Grand Cru" premium ticket, with prestige seating, vintage wines and special services. For tickets and information visit http://www.strengthsouthflorida.org
The Taste of the Nation benefits Share Our Strength which in turn grants funds raised to agencies involved in hunger relief and other humanitarian services. The Florence Fuller Child Development Centers in Boca Raton and the Daily Bread Food Bank have been named local beneficiaries.

Kelly Murphy, President of Panache Party Rentals, is the event's General Chairman. She explained that casino gaming, with all of its fun and fundraising abilities, is an exciting new addition to the action this year. That is why the event's theme, which echoes the goals of the organization, is "The Stakes Are High. No Kid Hungry!"
Ari Glassman, Co-chair of the event, stated the vision of this year's campaign: "Our objective is to build the first hunger-free generation in America by ensuring that all children have access to the nutritious food they need to grow and thrive," she said. Glassman also suggested that more commitment to solve the hunger problem is required on a local level. "The solution to ending childhood hunger in America, and in South Florida, is not a secret. We have the knowledge and the tools to make it happen," she said. "What we need are the energy and determination to apply ourselves, through our governments, our businesses, our schools, communities and nonprofit organizations to end childhood hunger in this country. Share Our Strength, through programs like Taste of the Nation, is leading the fight to reach that goal."
The Florence Fuller Child Development Centers, which are situated on east and west Boca Raton campuses, are licensed for over 600 children and provide quality, subsidized care for children from low income households in South Palm Beach County. Because of the Centers' program preschoolers enter elementary school more prepared socially, academically, physically and emotionally.
The program supports parents who work and/or are in training to work and are making under a certain amount of income for their family size. Children from one month to five years receive nursery or preschool care. After school and summer camp programs round out services for the 6year old children. Funding comes from a variety of sources, including Head Start, Children's Services Council of Palm Beach County, United Way, Florida Department of Children and Families, Florida Department of Health Child Nutrition Services and the City of Boca Raton. For more information, please visit their website at www.ffcdc.org.
Daily Bread Food Bank is a not-for-profit organization that distributes over 19 million pounds of food a year to approximately 1,200 not-for-profit agencies in Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties. Through member agencies' feeding programs for children in need, the mentally and physically challenged, battered women, the elderly, people living with HIV/AIDS, the homeless and the working poor, Daily Bread strives to serve those in need with dignity and impartiality. Daily Bread Food Bank also undertakes to be an advocate for that in need by educating and engaging our community at large to fight hunger and poverty. For more information visit www.dailybread.org.
