The Jewish Federation of Broward County will host Israel60, an all-day community celebration at the University Center on Sunday, May 4, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free.
The festival will include:

May 4, 2008, 4th Annual Sprint For The Finish DPHDS 5K Run & Daniel's 1 Mile Fitness/Fun Walk. Race Day Registration begins at 6:00am, and the 5k begins at 7:30 am, Markham Park, 16001 W. State Road 84, Sunrise. For more information contact call or e-mail Judy Lewis at 954-583-6100 ext. 235 or .

Presentations by local agencies, synagogues and organizations

Highlights on the main stage include: family entertainment, cantorial choir, Israeli dancing with MaOr, the vocals of Ester Irene Brewda, the magic of Avi Frier, Israeli recording artists Habanot Nachama, the Jaime Bronsztein Orchestra performing Klezmer, and the Shalom Trio.
Also, through a live feed, the Broward community will be linked to Nesher, Israel, Broward's partnership community, and will be treated to the vocals of the Youth Choir in Nesher who, along with the local cantorial, will be singing "Hatikvah."

May 8, 2008 'A Hero in Heaven: An IDF Soldier's Story', 7:00 pm, David Posnack JCC, 5850 S. Pine Island. Admission is FREE. This event is co-sponsored by Friends of the IDF and Jewish National Fund.

May 9, 2008, Yom HaAtzmaut, Temple Beth Emet, Cooper City. 5:30 pm yoga on the bema; 6:15 pm an Israeli Style Dinner (RSVP a MUST); 7:30 pm an outdoor meditation service OR indoor Shabbat service led by 3rd graders; 8:00 pm "Our Israel" a Broadway style show in the social hall.
