If you want to play softball or tennis, please come at 9:00 am, as games will begin shortly thereafter, and you may be shut out if you're late. If you want to come later, get there by 11:30, and find Agnes Shooster --on the softball field. You must arrive and register by 11:30 am in order for us to order enough lunch from the caterer.

What: Enjoy a fun-filled day of sporting, starting with tennis or softball in the morning, a catered lunch at noon, and swimming, Wallyball, pool games, board games, after lunch! Start at 10:30 am with your choice of tennis round robins or a softball game. The round robin tennis is designed to enable everyone to play with different partners. Tennis courts will be available for games from 10:30 am till 12:00 noon at the same time others are playing softball. After tennis and softball, we will move to poolside and break for lunch. Lunch will be served poolside from 12:30 till 1:30 pm, and will include pizza, pasta, salad, dessert, and sodas. After lunch, there will be a mini Wallyball tournament, as well as swimming, underwater hockey, pool games, basketball and dodge ball. The JCC will be open late, so there's no need to rush out. We can stay and enjoy the facilities as long as we'd like.

Where: Meet on the softball fields of the David Posnack JCC, 5850 Pine Island Road, Davie 954-434-0499. Please come on time so that we can get you registered and order pizza for the right amount of people. You MUST register and get a wristband from Mosaic before participating in any activities.

Directions: Take I 95 to Stirling Road in Hollywood, and go west. Go past University Drive, and make the first right onto a small road called 82 Ave. (before Pine Island), then make the first left into the parking lot for the softball fields. Signups will be at the softball field. Lunch will be served poolside, and the rest of the afternoon will be spent either poolside or at the Wallyball or basketball courts.

Bring: Sneakers, sunscreen, bathing suit, softball glove & equipment, tennis racquet, and snorkeling gear if you want to play underwater hockey. Also bring a towel, and change of clothes and money for dinner afterwards, if you like.

Cost: $15 for members of Mosaic or the Posnack JCC, $20 for non-members. Includes unlimited sports for the day and catered lunch.

What: You will find the underwater life of Key Largo some of the most prolific and varied of any coral reef in the worlld. We will be on the water for 4 hours of snorkeling, at two reefs; White Banks Dry Rocks - this underwater garden of Sea Fans, Sea Plumes, Branching Sea Whips and some of the largest Brain Coral in the Sanctuary and and another reef John Pennekamp St. Park. This Park, combined with the sanctuary, encompasses 178 nautical miles of coral reefs, seagrass beds and mangrove swamps. The sea life includes over 55 types of coral and 600+ species of fish. Be prepared to join the group for dinner at a local Keys establishment.

Carpool Site: Meet at the Holiday Inn in Hollywood. Take I-95 to Sheridan Street (exit #21), go west on Sheridan to the first light (N. 29 Ave.), turn right (north) and make the first left into the Holiday Inn. Meet in the parking lot on the right side of the hotel as you are facing the hotel. Meet at 9:15 am. We will depart at 9:30 am sharp!

Bring: Brown bag lunch for dockside picnic before departing, sunscreen, snacks, water and water bottle, waterproof camera (if you have one or want to buy a disposable), change of clothes, snorkeling gear is included, but bring your own if you have it, and money for dinner afterwards.

WHAT: Plantation Heritage Park in Plantation will offer "OH, BEHAVE!" DOG TRAINING CLASSES, for dogs 5 months of age and older and their owners, on Saturday mornings beginning on September 15, starting at 9 a.m. This six-week program covers basic dog obedience, including the commands "sit," "stay," "down," and "come;" walking on a leash; and greetings. The cost is $110 per dog, and there must be at least one adult handler per dog. Dogs must have current proof of rabies vaccination, and no aggressive dogs are allowed. Dog owners should bring a nylon buckle collar, a six-foot leash (no retractable leashes allowed), and a bag of their pet's favorite treats. Directions: Take I-95 to to Sheridan Street, head east to A1A then turn right, heading south.

A bounty of fresh seafood, live music and entertainment are in store September 28-30, 2007 at the 6th Annual Hollywood Beach Clambake, where that tasty New England tradition takes on a tropical twist. The popular seafood festival will take place along Hollywood Beach's historic Broadwalk, a newly renovated pedestrian promenade at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, and will feature performances by world-class musical acts Soul Asylum, The Romantics and many more.
Throughout the weekend, a sumptuous South Florida feast of fresh clams, oysters, shrimp, fish, lobster, conch and crab cakes will be served up by festival vendors and beach eateries. Seafood-lovers will find much to enjoy all along the Broadwalk, as local restaurants offer their hottest seafood recipes and coolest drink concoctions for hungry revelers.
Nonstop live music on two stages will include popular local performers as well as nationally known concert acts, including Grammy-winning indie-rock icons Soul Asylum, best known for chart-topping tunes "Runaway Train," "Somebody To Shove" and "Misery" (Saturday, September 29, 9 p.m.), Detroit power-pop group The Romantics of "What I Like About You" fame (Friday, September 28, 9 p.m.), New Orleans favorites Porter Batiste Stoltz of the Funky Meters (Saturday, September 29, 7 p.m.) and trombone brass band Bonerama (Sunday, September 30, 7 p.m.) An additional contingent of top-notch South Florida-based acts performing on World Music Sunday include Marijah & the Reggae All-Stars (Sunday, September 30, 5 p.m.), Latin jazz veterans Oriente (Sunday, September 30, 6 p.m.), and Grammy-nominated traditional Cuban dance band Conjunto Progreso (Sunday, September 30, 6:30 p.m.)
Among the other festival highlights will be a Classic Car show on Friday night (6-11 p.m.), a sand-sculpting exhibition, the annual Best Chowder Contest among beach-area restaurants, arts & crafts activities for children utilizing eco-friendly materials and a volunteer beach cleanup (9 a.m. to noon on Saturday) followed by a Beach Cleanup After-Party with musical entertainment provided by the AMP Band (noon to 2 p.m.)
The festivities along the newly renovated Broadwalk will introduce visitors to the natural beauty of Hollywood's award-winning coastline; charming assortment of retro beach shops, boutique hotels, luxury resorts and waterfront dining options ranging from casual to sophisticated; and a variety of free cultural offerings such as the Hollywood Beach Clambake. Named one of the country's top nostalgic boardwalks by USA Today in 2005, the new-and-improved Broadwalk, along with a series of exciting high-profile public and private redevelopment projects, is helping to transform the quaint seaside city of Hollywood into a major regional tourist destination.
There is no charge for admission to the Hollywood Beach Clambake, which is presented by the Hollywood Beach Community Redevelopment Agency. Founded by Fiesta Tropicale of Hollywood, Inc., a 501C3 nonprofit organization, the Hollywood Beach Clambake is an award-winning event recognized by the Florida Redevelopment Association as "Best Festival." Last year, more than 50,000 attendees flocked to Hollywood Beach over the three-day weekend for the fresh seafood and free concerts by renowned acts that included Edie Brickell & the New Bohemians. Past performers include Toots & the Maytals, Terrence Simien, Dick Dale, Chubby Carrier, Fingers Taylor and many more.
Festival hours are 5 to 11 p.m. Friday, September 28; noon to 11 p.m. Saturday, September 29; and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday, September 30 along the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk, just east of State Road A1A at Johnson Street.
Arrive by car, boat or bicycle. Paid festival parking is available at the Johnson Street municipal garage and surface lots, at the Oceanwalk Mall next to the Ramada Inn Hollywood Beach Resort at Hollywood Boulevard and A1A, and at the Hollywood Beach Marriott parking garage, 2501 North Ocean Drive. Parking is also available at the Anne Kolb Nature Center at West Lake Park.
On Saturday only, shuttle service will run from the Anne Kolb Nature Center at West Lake Park to the Oceanwalk Mall from 8 a.m.-11 p.m.
